The crime branch of Nagpur police has successfully cracked down on thieves and burglars, solving a total of nine cases through two operations. This has brought relief to citizens, as the city police have been intensifying efforts to combat increasing incidents of vehicle thefts and burglaries. In the first operation, two burglars were apprehended, leading to the resolution of seven cases. One recent case involved the theft of cash and valuables amounting to Rs6.54 lakh from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar. The Pachpaoli police initiated an investigation after registering a burglary case, with the crime branch also conducting a parallel inquiry. Through analysis of CCTV footage, the police obtained a crucial lead regarding the vehicle used in the crime, ultimately leading to the arrest of the suspects, Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in three burglaries and four vehicle thefts, resulting in the recovery of stolen items and three vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh. It was revealed that the accused are substance abusers who engage in criminal activities to support their addictions. Ramakant is also wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate development, crime branch unit 5 apprehended three individuals involved in two vehicle theft cases. This arrest was made following an investigation into a bike theft reported at Jaripatka police station, leading to the detention of Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) with the help of CCTV footage and on-ground intelligence efforts.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered and a bike used in the crime has been seized, with a total value of Rs1.20 lakh. It has been reported that a large number of vehicle thefts occur in busy or market areas of the city. Additionally, most burglaries are reported on the city's outskirts, which fall under the jurisdiction of police stations such as Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Local residents have requested increased night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents. The police have advised citizens to inform their neighbors and respective police stations when leaving the city, enabling both the police and local community to keep a vigilant watch on their homes.
